HOT STONE VS SALT STONE
Hot Stone or Himalayan Salt Stone Massage?
Two stones, two feels. Your therapist uses either one on your back and legs, and you can add either to any massage you book.
Hot stones: deep, steady heat. Smooth volcanic basalt stones hold heat well, so tight muscles soften and let go. Pick these when tension is the problem and you want the warmth to do the heavy lifting.
Himalayan salt stones: lighter and silkier. Himalayan salt stone massage is the same massage you know, with warm Himalayan salt stones instead of basalt: natural pink rock salt, softer than basalt, with a lighter feel on the body. Because they are salt, they also leave your skin feeling smooth. Pick these when you want warmth that feels airy instead of heavy.
Not sure? This chart shows which one fits what you need.
| If you want | Best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Deep warmth on tight shoulders, back or legs | Hot stones | Dense basalt holds heat, so muscles soften and pressure can stay comfortable |
| A lighter, softer feel | Himalayan salt stones | A softer stone with a gentler weight on the body |
| Smoother-feeling skin | Himalayan salt stones | Natural salt leaves skin feeling soft after your session |
| Firm work on knots, with warmth | Deep Tissue + hot stones | Heat first, then firm pressure where you need it |
| Pure relaxation | Relaxing (Swedish) + either stone | Light, flowing strokes with gentle warmth |
| Not sure yet | Hot stones | A classic place to start. Try salt stones next visit |
| Everything in one set | Signature Massage | Hot stones come built in, with aromatherapy and a steam eye mask |
If the stones ever feel too warm, say so and your therapist adjusts right away.

Caro Romano Rosa2026-08-05This review is a heartfelt thank you to the owners of Palm Massage Spa and their incredibly dedicated team. I travel to Utah frequently for work, and my trips are typically fast-paced and packed with meetings. This week, I booked a 90-minute deep tissue massage with Bri to unwind and find some pain relief, and the experience was phenomenal. The spa itself is exceptionally clean, calming, and radiates positive energy. The front desk staff was welcoming and professional, but Bri truly stole the show. Some people are just born with a natural gift for bodywork, and she is absolutely one of them. Her pressure was perfect, and my lower back pain is completely gone. It’s clear the owners care deeply about their business, their staff, and their clients. Palm Massage Spa will be my go to sanctuary for every future business trip to UT! I’ll see you again soon :)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
